How Do I Look? – New Perspectives on Using Point of View Shots EN
Saturday, 18th February 2017, 10.30 am – 6 pm & Sunday, 19th February 2017, 10.30 am – 4 pm, Kunstmuseum Bonn
Led by: Lucy Pawlak (Video and Performance Artist, London)
Venue: Kunstmuseum Bonn
“How Do I Look?” will work with cameras to take a practical and exploratory approach to performing the point of view shot (1st person perspective) in cinema.
The title of the workshop originates from a conference organised in 1987 by Bad Object Choices. As in the original event, the question is intended to provoke a number of potential readings, including: How am I seen (or not seen)? How do I see (or not see)? How do I look at her, him or them? How do I look at myself? What are the conditions (terms, possibilities and constraints) of my visibility? What are the conditions (terms, possibilities and constraints) of my seeing? What is being framed out? Where is the focus?
And: How does my being inform how I look? My anatomy? Your position? Her gender? Their belief-system? Our training? Its job? His health? Your emotions and feelings? Her desires?
The workshop aims to collectively raise consciousness about how we make images, in cameras or as viewers. In the process we will perform both, looking as ourselves and as others.

“Resonance Space Video” for young people and those over 55 years old
A generation workshop with and about video and performance
Led by: Diane Müller (artist, Cologne)
The VIDEONALE.16 Generation Workshops, led by artist Diane Müller, are aimed at the cooperation between older people and young folk. The workshop participants will, as a group and with the help of guided, improvised performances, examine their own reactions and those of the other participants to the VIDEONALE.16 video works, which they have viewed and intensively discussed together during the workshop. The dialogue about art and the reflection of our own activity as a reaction to the art works are important elements of the workshop. The collective discussions and the communal activities with and about art will help the participants to become acquainted with the viewpoint of the other generation, to exchange ideas and to collect new experiences with relation to the own body and the experiencing of art.

Intercultural impulses for refugees and all those interested
An intercultural workshop about and with video and performance
Led by: Diane Müller (artist, Cologne) & Jabbar Abdullah (archaeologist, Cologne)
The artist Diane Müller will lead the workshop, assisted by Syrian archeologist and author Jabbar Abdullah. During the workshop the participants will examine the video works of VIDEONALE.16 in an artistic-performative way. They will develop and discuss their own interpretations of the works’ contents and will express individual impulses in a performative manner. The dialogue between the participants will help them to reflect upon their experiences with art, their own bodies and the performances. This will enable them not only to find new access to contemporary art forms such as video art, but also to become aware of the culture and perspective of other participants. The goal is, at the end of the workshop, to present the jointly developed performances publicly and thus carry the dialogue out into the extended public.
