The theme of the video Detachment Missions is the various forms which separation and alienation processes can take. A central aspect is the interaction between dancer Valentin Tszin and his urban surroundings, and further, the medialisation of these performances with a time-based medium. Personal and depersonalised voices, some of them quotations from the Italian version of Andrei Tarkowski’s Stalker, lend the film a narrative, which deals with the beginnings and ends of love affairs.
