Daniel Hopp’s works combine ›reality‹ and ›artistic‹ or ›fictional‹. In his film Paradise, a couple spend their dreary days in a high-rise housing estate. Apart from drugs and sex they can’t think of much to do. The shooting lasted for five days and involved an amateur, an actress and an actor who all performed spontaneously and intuitively. Hopp provides suggestions, sets the stage and ›keeps the camera rolling‹. Why do we want to know whether the occasionally extreme situations are ›genuine‹? (Lisa Bosbach)
