Verena Buttmann’s performance is a combination of a reading and a concert, with additional video. Her songs draw on her own texts, those from recorded songs and ones that she has found. She deliberately plays with the question of the performer’s self-expression or the adaptation of a song text. She deals with the relationship between private and public as well as strategies of appropriation. How can the exchange between them be revealed? She makes use of the public sphere as a corrective.
